We are currently looking for an Applications Engineer to support our Bioprocess business. This position would be located in Dexter MI. This person will be responsible for working directly with customer applications and helping in the design process, and help spearhead different engineering projects.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop complete layout and engineering drawings of a variety of components and assemblies such as schematics, interconnect lists and parts breakdown from notes, rough sketches or general instructions in cooperation with team engineers, designers and sales operatives.
  • Contribute design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation and product quality.
  • Field measurement of equipment and piping.
  • Determine scaling, utilize necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning.
  • Draft accurate as-built equipment drawings in an efficient manner.
  • Coordinate plans, details and specifications with other vendors.
  • Check drawings previously completed by the company or supplied by vendors.
  • Generate fabrication and assembly definition documents.
  • Support manufacturing and assembly operations to help realize design objectives.
  • Create/maintain equipment data sheets and specifications for key equipment
  • Draft/update electrical drawings in conjunction with Controls Engineer
  • Assist Engineering with Bills of Material
  • Obtain and assemble data to complete CAD designs, visiting job sites to compile measurements as necessary.
  • Participate as a team member in the technical development of schematic, design development, construction documents, specifications and construction administration needs for customer commercial projects.
  • Communicate and coordinate with architects, owners, other engineering disciplines, vendors, building officials, other consultants, etc. throughout the design phases of the project.
  • Identify and document critical parameters and critical specifications for a subsystem or assembly.

Position Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering. Relevant Technical Drawing certifications is a plus.

Experience: 2-4 years of Project Management experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Creative conceptual design, structural layout, sizing, and detail design documentation.
  • Performance of general engineering calculations including capacities, flow rates, power consumption, mass properties, strength requirements and thermal control requirements.
  • Evaluate available space and design modular equipment to be installed within constraints.
  • Model/simulate designs to minimize iterations and optimize fabrication and assembly.
  • Mechanical inspection and measurement and gaging.
  • Control systems integration into fluid flow systems and machinery.
  • Strong hands-on problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, resourceful individual who works well with limited supervision and has strong attention to detail.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
